Anthony Sargent CBE

Anthony studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford then worked for 15 years in BBC Radio and TV (in presentation, production and management); as Artistic Projects Director at London’s Southbank Centre; as Birmingham City Council’s Head of Arts (co-creating with Simon Rattle the 10-year Towards the Millennium festival); back at the BBC for their nationwide multi-platform Millennium Music Live; at Sage Gateshead as founding General Director, at Luminato Festival Toronto as CEO and currently Interim Director of Toronto’s Koffler Centre of the Arts.
During 2020/2022 he wrote two major international studies of lessons from the pandemic, the first in 2021 and six months later a follow-up.
A Summerhill resident since 2000, his wife Caroline Gant was the Trust’s founding Board Chair and he is excited as current Chair to follow Caroline, Dow Smith and Jasper Singh evolving the Bowling Club as a resource for the whole of our local community.
